About Us

Who are we?

The Gay Caravan and Motorhome Club (GCMC) was established in 1990, although at that time was called and known as The Gay Caravan and Camping Club (GCCC), the name then changed in 2014 to include Motorhome into the title.

The Club has grown from strength to strength over the years and continues to be a success today through maintaining its values, of promoting friendships, being relaxed and informal, consideration to others, and sharing times away with other members that just happen to be from the gay community.

We are a mixed group of men and women, singles and couples, from all walks of life, some of us are fortunate to have retired and spend many weekends and weeks away and some of us work full time, but grab time away as much as we can with the club.

We have members from all over the United Kingdom, and some overseas all in pursuance of a common social outdoor interest in camping, be it in caravan, tent or motorhome.

The GCMC endeavours to bring together like minded people with likeminded interests in camping who just happen to be from the LGBTQ+ community.

When we get together our meets are informal, relaxed and social, we have members that have been in the club for many years, and also members who have recently joined.

Why should you join?

• Our members will tell you how much their circle of friends has grown since joining the club.
• Membership costs as little as 29p per week, that's only £15 per annum
• Many of our members renew their membership year after year because they enjoy the meets that they do not find elsewhere and being part of a friendly club.
• Members will tell you it's a great club to belong to because we really do bring gay people together sharing our common interest in an outdoor way of life that we all enjoy.
• You will have access to our exclusive member's only competitions with some great prizes.
• You will receive our Newsletter packed full of fun and information with details of arranged meets across the UK and on times in Europe.
• You will be able to have access to our member's only area of the website and access to our private Facebook page.
• You will have a real person who is a member of the club to talk to if you are ever unsure of attending or hosting a meet, or even if you just want to say hello, we are on the end of the phone to support you.

What is the purpose of the club?

The club is designed to give our members the knowledge that on certain dates and at certain venues up and down the country there will be other members (members that soon become friends) on a site, that you are invited to, to share that trip away, no matter if it's a quick weekend in the Cotswolds or a couple of weeks around Europe, it's all your choice.

The club offers much more than a social gathering on social media, but the club offers real time social gathering, real time conversations and real time friendships, this is certainly something that social media cannot offer, and the simple fact that the club has been going strong since 1990, well that really does say it all.
